PART ONE
*THE LONG JOURNEY TO STATEHOOD*
The request for the creation of Anioma State has been the oldest , longest, and most consistent demand.
1. Request was made to the colonial office in London in 1954 for a West Niger Province to be carved out from the Warri and Benin Provences.
2. Request to Ayo Irikefe commission on State creation in 1975 for creation of Anioma State out of Midwest State, the Irikefe Commission described the demand as the *most scientific proposal of all*
3. Request to the National Assembly on June 1980 for the creation of Anioma State out of Bendel State.
4. The Recommendation of the National Assembly Conference Committee on state creation in 1983 for a referendum to create Anioma State out of Bendel State. This was scuttled by the military takeover of Government in December 1983.
5. In 1986, a memorandum for the creation of Anioma State was again submitted to the Political Bureau set up by President Ibrahim Babangida.
6. The Constituent Assembly of 1989 adopted Francis Halim’s motion calling for the creation of Anioma State.
7. In 1995, the report of the Constitution Review Committee recommended the creation of Anioma State out of Delta State.
8. The request for the creation of Anioma State was also made by the Anioma Traditional Rulers and leaders on January 5, 1999, to head of state, General Abdulsalam Abubakar.
9. The 2014 National Constitutional Conference recommended for the creation of Anioma State.
10. Here We are again before the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria urging the creation of Anioma State out of Delta State.
Our demand for the Anioma State has been long and consistent, and this is the time for Anioma State to become a reality and not a historic relic.
A referendum will soon be organized in Aniomaland, so get ready to *VOTE YES FOR ANIOMA STATE*
