The. Chairman, Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in the local government area, as they commemorate the Eid-ul-Malid, the birth of Prophet Mohammad.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Onwuka, in Agbor, Engr. Ehiwarior, noted that the celebration was significant, as it reminds Muslims across the world of the teachings of Prophet Mohammad, which centre on mutual respect and service to humanity.
The Chairman called on adherents of the Islamic faith in Ika South Local Government Area to use the occasion to rededicate themselves to upholding the core values of love, compassion, tolerance and peaceful coexistence with their neighbours, and those of other religions, maintaining that those values were critical to unity and development of the society.
“As you celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammad, I admonish you to eschew such vices and actions capable of destabilizing our community. Always strive to adhere strictly to the tenets of the Islamic faith which is anchored on the pillars of peace, love and mutual respect for others, irrespective of ethnic and religious differences,” the chairman counselled.
Ehiwarior used the opportunity to call on residents of Ika South Local Government Area to remain peaceful and always be their brother’s keepers by ensuring that they make security their watchword at all times.
He also urged them to continue to pray and support his administration in it’s determined and deliberate efforts to make Ika South a much better and prosperous local government area.
